The purpose of the Enigma Amateur Radio Club and the Emergency Radio Long Island Network is to assist the public and emergency-management agencies during times of crisis. We provide reliable communications support for shelter operations, on-scene coordination in communities directly affected by severe weather and natural or human-caused disasters, and search-and-rescue operations involving missing persons throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New York.

We work closely and communicate directly with Fire, Police, and Offices of Emergency Management. Our trained volunteers provide boots-on-the-ground support in affected areas across the two counties we serve, helping to maintain communications when conventional systems are overloaded, damaged, or unavailable.

The Emergency Radio Long Island Network also provides welfare-check services for Long Island families who need assistance checking on friends or relatives in other states affected by a disaster.

In addition, the Enigma Amateur Radio Club and the Emergency Radio Long Island Network have established a working relationship with Suffolk County ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service), strengthening our ability to coordinate resources and provide effective emergency communications throughout the region.
